Washington, DC January 7, 2008 – Oxantium launches its operations as of January 2008 with a unique founding team in emerging computing. The team has dedicated a lifetime to academia, industry and government. Lester Hyman, Newton Howard, and Omar-Al-Bundak are among key management team members.

Mr. Hyman brings more than 50 years of experience in business law, government, international politics, and intellectual property. He served in the Corporation Finance Division of the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Secretary of Commerce and Development.

Dr. Howard is an expert in identifying emerging technologies; he has worked with the U.S. government and intelligence community to invest in and utilize next generation technologies. He has formed and directed several international projects and structured significant deals including multi-billion dollar telecom and border security initiatives around the world.

A former Vice President of Hughes Space and Communication International, Mr. Al-Bundak was responsible for the company's strategic business in the Middle East and North Africa, with clients such as Nilesat and ArabSat. He pioneered Thuraya mobile satellite for the United Arab Emirates’ Etisalat, the first regional mobile satellite network, securing for his employer, Hughes, over a billion USD.

Our investment decisions are based on science-centric technology assessments, long-term view of the marketplace, and our desire to help shape it by empowering passionate and talented entrepreneurs.

With a starting fund size of $100 million and expected to reach 300 million, Oxantium supports seed, early and growth stage companies with capital, insight and experience.
